“As good as original Pismo location; chowder is the highlight without question”

" Without question, the chowder is the highlight of Splash Cafe. Having been to this one and the original location in Pismo Beach, it seems of equal quality, though there might have been more potato in the SLO location. Flavor was still excellent. They give you the entire section of the bread bowl that they cut out (and I definitely recommend the bread bowl) and grill it up so you can dip it in there. They also cut out a big portion so it's a lot of chowder.

We also got the fish and chips. The fish was fresh and nicely battered - not too much, but just enough - and the fish broke apart in our hands indicating it was cooked well.

The SLO location is much less crowded than the Pismo one, so that's a nice option. "

“ The Best

" My son and I took a road trip from Orange County to Monterey last week and we saw "Splash Cafe" advertised on the TV hotel channel at Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo. I ask the front desk if they were any good and she highly recommended it. I had the Clam chowder in a sourdorgh bowl and decided on fried clams and chips. My son ordered a veggie burger, then changed his mind and got a double cheese burger, daaaa!?! we even got a cinnamon roll with raisins to go. Every thing was good. The chowder was great, the burger was picture perfect and delicious and my fries were good. But the Cinnamon roll was to die for! We heated it up slightly later that night and had it with coffee. yum, yum! We were even going to stop back there on our way back home but it got too late. Very, Very, Good. "

Yum! ”

" have only eaten breakfast at this cafe. It's so good that I eat at this cafe every time that I am in SLO. It's a great place to have some coffee while reading the paper. My favorite thing to eat is the French Toast. It's made on fresh cinnamon bread. This place is so reasonble. I can't wait to go back. "

“ best clam chowder. You... ”

" best clam chowder. You can even buy it frozen and take it home to share! "

“ Great Clam Chowder and More... at Reasonable Prices

" Informal dining on a budget dosn't have to be plain or boring, and the Splash Cafe & Bakery continues to prove it. We stopped in after visiting the elephant seals at San Simeon beach last month (late afternoon) and found Splash as good as ever.
This 2nd location at 1491 Monterey St. (at California St.) in SLO (sister to the Pismo pier location), gets very crowded at peak meal hours. I'd guess it's the good, cheap eats and because they serve the best clam chowder I've ever tasted. It's thick & rich, and a bread bowl filled with zesty chile is also available at under $5.50 each ($4 without toasted sourdough bread bowl). Very reasonable prices indeed.
The delicious grilled Ahi sandwich is $4.50 and chicken strips & chips (probably good kid food, along with the burgers & hot dogs) were under $7. They also have steamed clams, fish tacos, deli sandwiches, a nice selection of salads, as well as serving beer & wine. When two people can have a great lunch for $25, including a shared bakery item, that's hard to pass up! I always try to stop here on visits to the central coast and have never been disapointed. "
